AI is a synth-pop duo based in Austin, Texas comprised of musician Bobby Cheatham ( Bad Birds , Distance Runner ) and writer Liz Feezor. Less a band and more an experience.
AI blends synths, industrial rock sounds, and ethereal vocals to explore complex feelings and ideas in their compositions, crediting Depeche Mode, The Eurythmics, David Byrne, Nine Inch Nails, and Devo as musical influences. The duo formed in 2019, releasing singles ‘Purple’ and ‘Miss Understood Was a Late Bloomer’ in the latter half of the year. Gender roles, androgyny, futurism, and the effect of technology are central themes to AI, each song an homage to human emotions — and the ubiquitous influence of machines in our reality. All songs written by AI, recorded and mixed at DNATX Studio by Bobby Cheatham.
